Cityspace was appointed to re-plan Marubeni’s 40,000 sq. ft. European headquarters.
Design Challenges & Considerations
Following on from site meetings, surveys and design reviews, Cityspace re-planned Marubeni’s entire workspace with particular focus on the social groups and business objectives of the company. The project was managed in three stages and Marubeni staffs were able to remain in occupation throughout the construction programme - with minimal disruption to the day-to-day operations. We successfully achieved this, through first gaining a comprehensive insight of department workspace criteria. We then created a ‘swing-space’ for staff while construction works progressed. The resultant project was achieved below the budget level and was delivered on time and to the agreed specification.
Key Project Achievements
In order to encourage greater collaboration, we were asked to design multi-function hubs that combined refreshment and informal meeting spaces. Our design solution incorporated bespoke ‘smoked oak’ screens, partition details and oak effect flooring. The client’s meeting room suite, open plan offices and social areas were designed to reflect a fit-for-purpose, contemporary and sophisticated design. This was combined with a warm pallet of rich colours and statement lighting from Tom Dixon to create a timeless design.
